A superb night out I’d say!
A night of drunkenness and partying with Jay & Brooksy from Juice 107.2, Mike Pantelli and Dan Gasser from Southern FM, Moody and Dave Kelly – together with my newly found friends, Roy & her b/f, Nina and Julie.
I’ve been all over the place, Creation in West Street, The Junction in Pool Valley/Grand Junction Road (depending on which side you are queuing) and the Funky Buddha Lounge on ‘The Lower’.
We’ve all had a fantastic evening…and some of them are still going!
Me? I’ve come home to retire to my bed zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
Once again though, I’ve seen the downside to Saturday night in Brighton. I’ve seen my Police colleagues rolling around West Street with pissed up people who have ended up getting themselves arrested because they couldn’t handle their drink, and have started a fight simply because someone “looked at them”, and my colleagues having to deal with the drunken abuse from the rest of the West Street arseholes.
Don’t get me wrong, not everyone who goes to that part of town is like that. Most people are quite pleasant and keep themselves to themselves, have a good night, a few drinks, a kebab and then go home.
Earlier on this evening whilst hunting for a cash point that didn’t have a queue, I heard some pissed up chav-type girl thing (I say that as she was mainly covered up by big hoop earrings and a load of Burberry) say “…I f****kin hate Brighton, it’s full of f***kin weirdo’s…” followed by her walking into some scaffolding…stupid cow!
There was only one thing missing tonight….a girlfriend but let’s not start on that topic just yet!
Anyway to quote the well known saying “…come on now, we’ve all had a drink..” – I’ve had a drink or 2 (yeah right!) and I’m going to sleep it off now……. Night!

I have just had one of the most fantastic nights.
I’ve been doing bits and pieces with Juice 107.2 & Brighton Live for the past couple of days, but tonight I got a real buzz from doing it!
Now the last time I was at the Concorde 2, I went to see Ozric Tentacles play and got well and truly mashed! Anyway I have wandered from the point.
For the first time in ages (and I mean ages), I started grooving to live music. Not a band, but a guy on his own, with his guitar, harmonica and drum having the greatest time playing his music, and us watching. Absolutely fantastic!
I really should do it more often!

One of the saddest days of my life. The legend that was John Peel sadly passed away whilst on a working holiday. He was 65.
To me, John was Mr Radio 1. He was the longest working DJ at Radio 1, having been there since it first started in 1967.
Suddenly, Teenage Kicks by The Undertones has a sad and emotional meaning (it was John’s favourite song, and one of my regularly listened to tracks).
Ironically, the news hit me while I was helping set up the Free Butt pub in Brighton, for Brighton Live focusing on Brighton’s Live music. An event that I’m sure John would’ve loved to have been at.
John, thank you for everything you did, you have been an inspiration to so many people (me included). May you Rest In Peace

For the first time in ages (well at least 2 months) I once again donned my Juice regalia and went out for an afternoon of outside broadcasting with Brighton’s Juice 107.2, only problem was the event we were going to had been cancelled due to the damn weather!
Still it gave me an opportunity to catch up with the gang who I hadn’t seen for months.
It feels great to be back on the scene and I haven’t stopped dancing all night (thanx Brooksy for a fantastic Anthems show tonight, and for the natter!)
Funny isn’t it, I’ve become emotionally attached to a radio station. I guess it’s because Juice has played such a key role in my life for the last 3 years that suddenly I started missing it.
I’m on holiday now for 2 weeks from “the job” and there’s lots coming up for me to get my teeth into, and no doubt end up getting bladdered again, just like the old days!
So, here’s a special message to Jay, Brooksy and the rest of the Juice team (who I know look at this site from time to time): “Ok I know I got f***ked off and left you all, but I’m back and ready to go if you’ll have me back! I’ve missed you all and I’m sorry!”
