New Home

Tuesday 28 October 2008

Well, Day 1 of the big move has gone quite well considering that I’d left everything to the last minute!

It does feel weird though.

I’m having bouts of weirdness every 10 minutes, and keep thinking that I’m in somebody else’s place.

The TFL posters are up (well 2 of them – I got bored of cutting and measuring after number 2)

Everything’s unpacked (well pretty much everything) and then it’s round 2 tomorrow after the appointment at the Sussex Air Ambulance Base.

I have to go, another bout of weirdness is about to kick in.

On The Move

Monday 27 October 2008

I’m moving house tomorrow, which is why I haven’t blogged for ages.

I’m moving to a nice place down by the sea, in fact I can see the sea from my window.

How marvellous.

I’m thinking of vlogging once I’m there and calling it something original like “My New Life” or something.

Your thoughts please?

N95 8GB Slider Fixed

Sunday 19 October 2008

It had to happen didn’t it.

I know I wrote about old phones in a not to long a go post, but today I looked at my N95 8GB and it seemed sad. I couldn’t help myself and decided to help it feel loved again.

There are a few things I don’t like about the N95 8GB

  1. The screen rattle,
  2. The fact there’s no lens cover on the rear camera (unlike the N95-1). My camera is scratced to buggery now where it’s been in my pocket.
  3. It’s just ever so slighty too big for comfort.

I do however like the black cover of it, rather than the silver and plum of my old N95-1.

In a contest between the two, the N95-1 would win hands down.

Now, I’ve managed to sort out number 1 of my 8gb dislikes thanks to a great, easy to understand Youtube video;

I followed the instructions and lo and behold, my screen no longer rattles. It’s as smooth as a…well you know the old saying :D

Now that that’s done, I can return to over 1000 songs for the journey to work rather than the 696 or so I had on my 4GB card on the N95-1 – yessssss!

I also found the Pearl Black Fire N95 theme which looks really nice on the 8GB, together with the Sony Sketch Font.

I Love Ebay.

Saturday 18 October 2008

Ebay is great.

You can spent lots of money on stuff that you don’t actually need, just because it’s there on a screen in front of you.

I do that all the time, although my addiction is slowly decreasing.

Take for example a recent purchase from ebay. It’s a bit of police radio history. It reminds me of my KB days, although I didn’t use one of these, the people on the other end did.

This kit has now been decommissioned due to Airwave.

It’s an original Burndept BE540 UHF/VHF Home Office Repeater set.

The only problem was, when I purchased it from Ebay, the power cables etc were not included, and I’ve been looking for a power cable ever since. I’d love to fire this beast up, even though it won’t work (I don’t have the transmitter part) I reckon it’ll still look nice lit up on the centre console of my car hahaha.

So if you know anybody who has one, or if indeed you are looking at this having worked in Radio Workshops before the introduction of Airwave, please get in touch and let me know how to fire it up :D   Thanks!
