Having been excited this week by an invitation to go to Leicester Square with my pals to see “The Boat That Rocked” in April, here’s a little compilation to remember the legends of Radio Caroline and Swinging Radio England.

It’s 46 minutes long and includes jingles from pirate radio Radio Caroline and Swinging Radio England.
Tracklisting
1. The Nice – America
It’s a funky organ rock style song and so typically 60’s. It’s fab!
2. Keith West – Excerpt From A Teenage Opera
A sad song which kind of reflects todays society. Grocer Jack dies and everybody feels guilty wishing they’d paid him more attention. Kids don’t understand what’s going on. That whole thing of being a kid and not understanding when somebody dies, and that they won’t come back.
3. Martha Reeves & The Vandellas – Dancing In The Street
A great song to listen to when drunk and walking home. You end up doing what the song says.
4. Incredible Bongo Band – Apache
Bongo’s and Organ – what more could you ask for?
5. Dave Dee, Dozy, Beaky, Mick & Titch – Hold Tight
A song which takes me back to pre-GCSE Music with Mr Hayter. Having to make a radio show with this as the opening track and speaking at the right time.
6. The Beach Boys – Good Vibrations
A classic song which apparently messes about with radio processors and sends them a bit mental.
7. Aretha Franklin – Think
Don’t ask, just do it. Think!
8. Edwin Starr – H.A.P.P.Y. Radio
Chosen because radio makes me H.A.P.P.Y.
9. The Roaring Sixties - We Love The Pirate Radio Stations
Without the Pirate’s of the 60’s we wouldn’t have the legends and stations we have now. Oh and yes we wouldn’t have the pirates of today, even though some of them are truly awful. Not that I endorse breaking the law by setting up your own!
10. The Seekers – I’ll Never Find Another You
Because we will never find another Radio Caroline
11. Nina Simone – I Wish I Knew How It Would Feel To Be Free
Chosen because it fitted quite nicely into the next classic piece of audio.
12. Dutch Boarding Party Dismantle Radio Caroline
A sad piece of audio. The Dutch party come in, take Radio Caroline off air and it fades into a whine.
13. The Ventures – Caroline.
The Radio Caroline song. Listen to it, remember it and be thankful.

If Only!
