In case you’re wondering where I’ve been, I’ve been here
Tech Op'ing at Evoke Radio
I’ve been hanging out with the guys at Evoke Radio who I will at some point be providing travel news for. So, Travel Nick is back. Hooray!!!!
You can listen online at www.evokeradio.com/player. We play 80’s and 90’s music and have a general laugh on the air.
Tonight was also quite a momentous? occasion. It was my proper first night in the hot seat. It’s a bit different to talking about crashes and roadworks!
Wotcha! I’m back again after my little holiday absence.
I’ve been away to Austria recently, well, Seefeld In Tirol to be exact and I had an absolutely fantastic, relaxing time. It’s so nice out there I didn’t want to come back… ever. The only thing that called me back was work. I can’t do without work as I need to frantically save to go back there again.
I’ve uploaded a few videos to Youtube which I’ll embed down the bottom of this post so you can see for yourself how lovely it was.
The thing is, having spent just 10 days there, I’ve started to really hate the UK. Here’s some of the reasons why. Let’s call it Austria -vs- UK
Austria
The streets are clean and tidy.
The residents take pride in their towns and villages.
There are no chavvy idiots roaming the streets looking for trouble.
The villages are decorated with flowers and trees and look really nice.
There’s hardly any trouble.
You can have a beer at any time, and there’s no aggro from pissed up idiots.
There aren’t any rough sleepers, beggars, street drinkers (or not that I saw anyway).
They are proud of their heritage.
They actively encourage tourists, and tourists are treated with respect and are welcomed by “the locals”.
Cycling is encouraged, and you can cycle in pedestrian areas because the cyclists and pedestrians move out of each others way so there aren’t any collisions.
Now let’s look at the UK
The streets are filthy, littered with…er…litter, dog crap, fag butts etc
Nobody really cares about how the towns look. Take Hove for example. You try to do something to make it look nice and some idiot comes along and ruins it all.
Everywhere you go, you see muffin top chavs having a pop at anybody that so happens to be on the same side of the road as them.
Once where there were flowers and things to make the place look nice, there’s now empty beer cans, dog crap or the remains of what were flowers but some idiot came along and kicked them away or ripped them up.
There’s loads of trouble. Just read the local paper. Nobody is safe these days.
People here go over the top with their daytime drinking. By midday they’ve either collapsed in the street or are starting a punch up somewhere, or are gobbing off at passers-by.
Our towns are riddled with street drinkers, beggars and the like. They have no respect for anything or anybody.
Tourists and visitors are treated like second class citizens, and have been set upon by our chavvy idiots and his/her mates.
The cyclists here think they own the roads/pavements. They ride at you like you’re in the wrong and don’t like it when they’re challenged.
I saw one police car the whole time I was in Seefeld. They came to the main “square” and were posing for photos with visitors (who happened to be mainly Italian). They got out of their car, did the photos, got back in, waved goodbye and drove off. That was their weekly visit.
The local fire station went out and bought a load of stuff from the local Spar, then took the kids out for a ride around in the fire engine and gave them the treats they had bought.
That would never happen here.
So, there you have it. Some reasons why I hate the UK. It really is so shit. If I could I would leave tomorrow (unfortunately I can’t right now, but I can see that it won’t be long – unless the Government start putting the Great back into the not-so-Great Britain).
Who’s coming with me?
Here are the videos I mentioned. Maybe these will sway you?
That’s a little compilation video I made from photos and video taken during the 10 days.
This is the firework display for a local White Nights Lifestyle and Fashion Show that took place one weekend. No police overkill, no trouble, just loads of people having a great time together.
A horse-drawn carriage ride around Seefeld. No angry motorists getting wound up, no noisy protesters with megaphones but lots of people waving at you as you go past them.
